Cathletics Day 1

It has been fun to be a participant again after years and years directing VBS.  My new church is St. William of York which is hosting Cat Chat's Cathletics program.  My husband, Rob, and I are in charge of 24 first and second graders---yes, it's a challenge!  Our grandson, Paul, is six and in this group.  How is this VBS program?  Great!  The core program is outstanding: faithful to Catholic doctrine, fun crafts, original snacks, easy to replicate wall decor, catchy tunes, and active games.  St. Will's team leaders are following the script, key to any program's success.  By happy coincidence, the first saint is St. John Paul II, perfect with World Youth Day closing in Kracow, isn't it?  Back to Cathletics.  The kids remained engaged the entire morning.  The children finished early in crafts; the leader had extra coloring pages ready.  Whew!  I am glad the VBS leader, Catherine, was able to get small bottles of water.  The kids decorated a bottle cozy and colored a wrapper to tape on the bottle.  Not one child left their craft behind, a good indication, they valued their crafts.  All in all, Cathletics is a solid program.  My one caveat is the program needs cheers.  I've been adding favorites from earlier years.  Here are a few photos.
