Summer Faith Camp Crafts

Let me share some of our crafts.  Most of these activities I’ve done with kids before at VBS or CCD.  I know they are hits!

1. Here is a craft about the Priest’s vestments.  The construction paper and vestment template fit into a CD or DVD jewel box.

2. Making Peg Dolls is an ongoing project.  I ordered enough peg dolls to allow each child to make as many saints as desired.  We did this craft last year at VBS.  Some of the kids make seven.  Really.  I bought this set from TPT to decoupage.  Here is a peg doll planning sheet for kids to use to design and paint their own peg dolls.

3. We’re making Armor of God Shields.  I use this poster and Armor Set to teach the lesson.

4.  Another hit craft is making Monstrances.  I save CDs and DVDs for the Monstrances.  Dollar tree has inexpensive jewels we use to decorate them.

5. Here are instructions for the Mini Mass Kits.

Summer Faith Camp Games

Boy are we playing games at Summer Faith Camp.  I made another list.

1. Saint Bingo and VeggieTales Bingo are perfect indoor games when it’s raining or just too hot outside.

2. Suitcase Relay involves over-sized clothes and two teams.  We’re playing Suitcase Relay when we study Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors.  I have two hideous Hawaiian shirts set aside for the game.

3.  All Saints Scavenger Hunt is one idea.  I might just hide animal stuffier outside to find.

4. Knock Down the Giant dovetails with David and Goliath.  I’m sketching a Goliath to tape to a board for the kids to knock down.

5. Toss stuffies into Corn Hole game to go along with Noah and the Ark.  you can just tape animal images or stickers to the bean bags.

Summer Faith Camp!

Our Church does VBS and uses Cat.Chat VBS.  Our Church also has instruction for children behind in the Sacraments—two weeks of instruction in the Faith.  The religious education coordinator asked me to help.  She said I could do anything I wanted.  I designed Summer Faith Camp.  The Camp runs two weeks, Monday to Friday, 9:00-noon, in the middle of July.   We’re praying the Rosary, learning Catholic virtues and different saint.  Yes, there will be loads of fun!  I’m adding VeggieTale clips to teach Bible stories.  We’re reading ‘Once Upon A Saint’ stories, learning the parts of the Mass, and making miniature Mass Sets, paper bag puppets,  and so much more!  Here are some of the chants we’re using.  The chants are based on Cadences or Jodies, a sample You-tube, kid-friendly Cadence.  I am so excited!
